There are many things you need when selecting a website for purchase of your chinks and chaps but here are a few thoughts:
You either need a very knowledgeable person on the other end of the phone, or you need some very good information to be available on the chap website. If you don't have the proper customer service or the proper information available on the website, you may receive chaps that don't fit. Without a great customer service person to walk you through measuring and sizing, you must have very specific measuring instructions to be shown on the website. Without them, you will most likely wasting your money on return shipping.
More often than not, you will be better off buying directly from the company making the chaps. They will be much more knowledgeable about fit and the product. This increases the odds that you will get what you want.
You may be able to find a good buy from an outlet that sells the chaps of others but the odds are that you will be better off buying from the maker.
You don't want to be an experiment for pattern making and everybody has a different set of patterns. The more experience the better.
